Scott DeBurgomaster, a PhD student in the sociology department at the University of Washington, is a research assistant at the Center on Reinventing Public Education. His research interests focus on how social institutions and public policy affect educational attainment and labor market outcomes and how these effects may differ by ascribed groups. He is currently examining how community colleges affect students' post-secondary attendance decisions and transfer performance as well as how state transfer and articulation policies impact retention and graduation rates. He is also working on the School Finance Redesign Project, assessing how teacher attitudes about compensation reforms vary by individual and workplace characteristics using original survey results of teachers in Washington state.
