Robin Lake discusses Race to the Top on KUOW's Weekday

Delaware and Tennessee have won grants in the first phase of the Race to the Top competition. The two states will earn additional education funding from the federal government. What do the finalists have that Washington state doesn't? What is this state doing to put itself in the running for the next round of funding? The nation's fourth graders didn't improve their reading skills on the national educational assessment test for the first time since 2003. Does that mean education reform isn't working? Are the reforms outlined in Race to the Top even a good thing?
