Managing Human Capital

Because there is no doubt about how important teachers and leaders are to student learning, reform-minded leaders across the country have begun to rethink how their districts and schools manage teacher and leader talent. To inform these efforts to improve human capital management, CRPE examines a range of issues related to how districts and schools find, develop, and keep teacher and leader talent. From leadership pipelines to teacher hiring and more, CRPE analyzes pressing problems and new approaches in order to better ensure that all students have excellent teachers and leaders.

Washington State Principals
Our new project examines the attributes and career paths of Washington's principal workforce, looks at how the state's school districts hire and support principals, and asks how Washington's principals view current policy proposals for improving school leadership. The project aims to offer state and local leaders new information that they can bring to bear on their efforts to develop and improve the state's principal workforce.
