Denver Public Schools, currently led by Acting Superintendent Susana Cordova, was an early adopter of the portfolio strategy and continues to lead on implementation. The Denver Plan 2020 outlines district priorities and strategies, including increasing the number of quality schools in every neighborhood and closing the opportunity gap for students of color. A key part of this plan is flexibility, providing school leaders the autonomy needed to develop schools that are best meeting student needs. Tied to the flexibility strategy DPS is developing an innovation zone that will provide a greater level of autonomy to a pilot group of 4 schools beginning next school year. (Updated March 2016)
